Meet Missi
Teacher for Congress
That’s why she is running for Congress. Her priorities lie with the people: affordability, lowering healthcare costs, and supporting farmers, not data centers. The Ozarks have been left behind for too long by politicians who have sold us out.
Missi was born in the Chicago suburbs and lives in Forsyth. She attended public schools her entire life. While attending Forsyth High School, Missi played on the tennis team and served as the editor of her school paper while working two after-school jobs. She worked in business and finance before earning degrees from University of Missouri - St. Louis, Drury University, and Missouri State University. She has been teaching for 22 years and is the proud mom of three.
Beyond her work educating in classrooms, Missi served three terms on the Forsyth City Council before she was elected mayor in 2023. Listening to her neighbors and working with local government to make Forsyth better was her priority.
As mayor, Missi worked with city leaders to rewrite dangerous building and nuisance ordinances that had not been enforced in decades, helping residents stay safe and cleaning up the community.
She also oversaw the Gateway Trail project, a 5.5-mile trail system for hikers and mountain bikers. This initiative increased outdoor recreation and ecotourism, boosting investment in small businesses and local tax revenue.
Nearly one in five individuals in Southwest Missouri live at or just above the poverty line.Missi can see that our neighbors are hurting. Working with students and families from a variety of backgrounds throughout her career has provided Missi with a unique perspective to build coalitions in Congress to fight for working people.
